Rockley Manor was the perfect wedding venue for Melissa & Joe. A private residence set in the rolling Wiltshire countryside, affording seclusion for their emotional vows and luxury for the post-ceremony celebrations. And the venue was exclusively theirs, so thankfully nobody but their loved ones had to endure Joe’s Alan Partridge impressions (thought you might appreciate a bit of blog banter, Joe…)
With Rockley’s wedding organiser, Beth, at the helm, the day went incredibly smoothly, and she even managed to effortlessly arrange a late outdoor ceremony – Melissa & Joe’s top choice – despite the ominous clouds looming over the manor during the morning. Joe had time for a nerve-settling country drive before getting ready with the boys and Melissa cruised through preparations to arrive looking even more glamorous than normal (which her father kindly noted, eventually).
A string quartet played for Melissa’s entrance into Rockley’s impressive garden; their guests stood tall to greet her and the skies held. Joe didn’t quite manage to hold, but luckily Melissa was en route with the necessary three-ply supplies. After the ceremony the canapés and champagne flowed from Rockley’s kitchen to grace the foodie palates of the bride and groom, and the sumptuous food kept arriving throughout their wedding breakfast.
Cracking speeches from Joe and the father of the bride kicked the evening off. The best man made a lovely speech too, although I’m quite sure a brown envelope must have crossed his palm as I’ve never seen a groom get off so lightly. Luckily for everyone – apart from Joe – Melissa’s father had made up for it earlier.
Later, as the sun started its descent towards the horizon, the guests returned from the cake cutting in the secret garden to lit candelabras and the dulcet tones of the band warming up. The evening guests arrived, the caricaturist began lining up his willing victims, and the party started. After Melissa & Joe had been immortalised in cartoon form they took each other’s hands and walked off into the mystic.
It was a very special day to be a part, and I’m so grateful Melissa & Joe asked me to capture their wedding for them. With kind permission from the bride & groom I’m delighted to share their highlights film with you:
“We cannot thank James enough for his enthusiasm, hard work and commitment to capturing exactly what we wanted from our wedding day. The film is immaculate, exceptionally professional and more than we could have hoped for. We will treasure the film forever. We are so pleased we asked James to be part of our special day.”
